Summary up to 500 words
William Shakespeare's *Titus Andronicus* opens with the triumphant return of General Titus Andronicus to Rome. He mourns the death of twenty-one sons slain in battle against the Goths, while his remaining son Lucius and daughter Lavinia survive. Amidst the celebration, political tension arises between two princes vying for the throne: Saturninus, who promises to marry Lavinia, and Bassianus. Tamora, the Queen of Goths and wife of the defeated enemy leader Alarbus, plots revenge against Titus after her son is sacrificed by Roman law. Tamora's sons, Chiron and Demetrius, brutally rape Lavinia and sever her tongue and hands before killing her husband, Lucius. Titus discovers his daughter's mutilation but cannot identify her attackers. In a fit of grief, he cuts off his own hand to ransom the lives of his remaining sons, only for Aaron the Moor to mockingly return the severed hand along with the heads of Titus's other two sons. Consumed by rage and sorrow, Titus feigns madness to gain the trust of Tamora and her sons. He invites them to a banquet in his garden, where he reveals their crimes. In a shocking twist, he serves them pies made from their own flesh and bakes their heads into pasties. He then kills Chiron, Demetrius, and Tamora before stabbing himself. The play concludes with the revelation of the full extent of the atrocities, the death of Emperor Saturninus at Lucius's hand, and the ascension of Lucius as the new emperor who orders Aaron to be buried alive. The tragedy explores themes of revenge, racial tension, and the cycle of violence that destroys both the perpetrator and the victim.
