Summary up to 500 words
The Secret Doctrine of the Rosicrucians is an extensive body of esoteric teaching and occult lore that has been transmitted from Master to Student for countless generations. The book explores the history and principles of the Rosicrucian order, discussing its connection to alchemy, astrology, and spiritual evolution. The true Rosicrucians have no formal organization, but are held together by common interest in the occult and esoteric studies, and a shared acceptance of fundamental principles of belief and knowledge. Admission to this unorganized 'order' is possible only upon the request and recommendation of three members in good standing who have themselves been members for a certain period of time, and who have attained a certain degree of proficiency in the attainment of esoteric knowledge. Members of the Rosicrucian body are prominent in various fields, including occult organizations, philosophic and scientific circles, business and professional world, statesmanship, labor movements, and churches. The modern interest in the Rosicrucian Teachings dates back to the early 17th century, when rumors of a society known as 'The Brothers of the Rosy Cross' emerged. This mysterious society was attacked by ecclesiastical authorities and others, but vigorously defended by those interested in occultism and esoteric teachings. The legend concerning the origin of the order is that Christian Rosenkreutz, a German nobleman, visited India, Persia, and Arabia, obtaining a Secret Doctrine from the sages and seers of these lands. He established the original Rosicrucian Brotherhood around 1425, but its existence was not widely known until nearly two centuries later. The true Rosicrucians recognize this legend as a disguised recital of the real facts of the establishment of the unorganized order. The Secret Doctrine of the Rosicrucians is believed to have been built up gradually by old occult masters and adepts from scattered fragments of esoteric teachings treasured by wise men of all races. These fragments were said to be remnants of the old esoteric teaching of ancient Atlantis, which was destroyed in a great cataclysm. The book discusses various aspects of the Rosicrucian teachings, including the Principle of Polarity, which states that everything has its opposite, and the Principle of Sex, which manifests as sex distinction and activity apparent in all creation. The Principle of Sex is omnipresent and all-pervasive in the universe, causing all creation to result from generation, and generation proceeds from sex-activity. This principle operates on physical, mental, and spiritual planes, manifesting physical generation, mental generation, and spiritual generation respectively. The book also touches on the concept of Cosmic Consciousness, which is a higher form of consciousness that has been experienced by individuals throughout history. This consciousness is characterized by a sense of unity with the universe, immortality, and intellectual competency. The book concludes by emphasizing the importance of balance and poise in achieving mastery over one's emotions and thoughts.
