Summary up to 500 words
In the third and final volume of *The Magic Ring*, Freiherr de La Motte-Fouqué brings the romantic adventures of Bertha von Lichtenried and her companions to a triumphant conclusion. The narrative opens in Gascony during a violent storm, where Bertha, reading of saints, is approached by the mysterious Moorish woman Zulma. Zulma claims a wounded soldier needs aid, but Bertha discovers the 'wounded man' is actually Alhafiz, a Moorish chief plotting to abduct her. Despite her pleas, Alhafiz and his forces seize Bertha, carrying her away to Carthagena under the cover of darkness. Meanwhile, Sir Folko de Montfaucon, presumed dead, is miraculously revived by the merchant Theobaldo, who reveals the magic ring's healing properties. Folko learns that Count Alessandro de Vinciguerra has also survived their previous encounter. The story shifts to the Hartz mountains, where the knight Gerda, disguised as a squire, explains her refusal to convert to Christianity. She recounts a terrifying encounter with the former warrior Ottur, now a monk named Zelotes, who threatened to cut off her hair and separate her from her beloved, Count Archimbald. Gerda flees into the woods to avoid forced penance. Back in Carthagena, the Emir releases Blanchefleur and Gabrielle from captivity. The party gathers for a festival where the minstrel Blondel de Nesle sings of King Richard the Lion's rescue. Sir Arinbiorn, the sea-monarch, arrives with Blanchefleur and the minstrel Aleard, whom he recognizes as the Roselinde from his visions. Overcoming initial jealousy from Sir Otto and Sir Folko, Arinbiorn accepts Blanchefleur's hand in marriage. Sir Otto marries the nun Hildiridur, and Sir Folko is united with Bertha. The volume ends with the breaking of the magic spells, the restoration of peace, and the knights departing to continue their lives of service and love.
